Tim Felger: A Thorn in our Side By Lee Hanlon

Criminology Column, The Cascade News Tim Felger, a resident of Abbotsford, is very well known in the Justice System as a marijuana grow operator (grow op).

The last time the Abbotsford authorities raided Felger's Bradner home was on January 6, 2005, seizing 2,090 marijuana plants. Felger was arrested and placed in custody. Although Felger was allowed to sell his house, the proceeds of the sale was seized by the Abbotsford authorities. Unfortunately, Felger made bail, and just in time to make himself look like a fool for the provincial elections. Originally, Felger's bail was set at $150,000 but then it seemed that the authorities had a brain freeze and set bail at $10,000 and let Felger loose at his word. In legalize a $10,000 surety. What was that judge thinking? Felger is so damned arrogant that he stated that he was just going to keep on running until he got elected, "so they better get used to me." Since Felger's release on the $10,000 surety bail, he located himself in a storefront on Essendene, combining it as residence, political office and a marijuana bookstore. His lease option? $1.00. Felger calls his business Da Kine, after the same name of Marc Emery's Vancouver pot store, Da Kine. Felger claims that his goal is to be the 'King of pot'. Not a very good goal - but then that's just my opinion. Felger alleges that marijuana is safe to use. Makes one wonder where he's getting that information. He also alleges that the criminalization of marijuana is the root cause of the violence involved in the war on drugs. Again, that makes one wonder where he's getting his information. Felger gained notary through the last Federal election that Randy White was campaigning. During that campaign Felger had posted illegal campaign signs. Signs that confused the voters of Abbotsford. The city of Abbotsford, under the direction of then Mayor Mary Reeves, removed Felger's illegal campaign signs. Of course Felger tried to sue the city for that one. Felger also ran in the last municipal elections. And get this. In both Abbotsford, as counsel and Mission, for the Mayor's seat! This guy has three drug related charges under his belt!

Makes you wonder what Elections Canada and Elections BC are thinking!

At least Felger lost each election campaign. Big time! Felger is known for ignoring the law. Whether it be criminal law or civil law. He has held pro-marijuana protests and arrogantly lit up marijuana joints in front of sheriffs at the Abbotsford Court House. And to boot, he had assaulted a sheriff during that protest. And of course the judge stayed that assault charge. Another judge with a brain freeze? Of course! But then, that's just my opinion. Currently, the city of Abbotsford has filed a lawsuit against Felger. And for good cause. As I stated above, Felger is known for disregarding the law of the land.

And this time it was for not following the city of Abbotsford by-law for

registering a business licence.

But unfortunately, since Felger refuses to follow the rules, the city of Abbotsford had to take legal action to bring Felger before a judge. Hopefully this judge won't have a brain freeze. And even if this judge does order Felger to follow the rules, do you, the reader, really think that will do any good? Three marijuana cultivation charges in three years, assaulting a provincial court sheriff, wasting votes in federal, provincial, and municipal elections, disregarding legislation that outlines elections, not to mention the criminal code. Contradicting himself when demanding that the religious stop pushing their morals, values, and beliefs on the people, yet, he himself pushes his immorality on the people. And to boot, he has the audacity to make false and misleading statements about marijuana, claiming that it's not harmful. So, you ask, "How do we deal with the likes of Tim Felger?"

I have a solution. One, as Felger has a number of drug related charges he should be barred from running for political office, whether it be federal, provincial, or municipal. Two, as his political platform is to attack the moral fiber of society he should be barred from politics. And three, dissolve the federal and provincial Marijuana Parties. But then that's just my opinion. What say you?
